As the second round of pilot programs for corporate compliance-based non-prosecution reforms in ten provinces and cities nears completion, the Supreme People's Procuratorate will soon roll out the corporate compliance reform nationwide. Meanwhile, related legislative efforts have entered a substantive research phase, paving the way for compliance initiatives and remediation measures to soon become legally recognized grounds for non-prosecution or lighter penalties for companies involved in criminal cases.

Among them, lawyers, as an indispensable driving force in corporate compliance, will play a vital, irreplaceable role in supporting the prosecution service’s reforms and fostering scientifically sound corporate governance, particularly through their expertise in defense, compliance consulting, and third-party oversight.
